Four Roses was the top-selling Bourbon in the U.S. in the 30s, 40s, and 50s.
It started with a man named Paul Jones, Jr., who named his Bourbon after his sweetheart who wore a corsage of four red roses.
In 1966, Jim Rutledge, one of the world’s most legendary Master Distillers, joined Four Roses and grew Four Roses to a household name in the United States and one of the most notable names in the Bourbon world.
Today, Four Roses is the only Bourbon Distillery that combines five unique yeast strains with two separate mash bills to handcraft 10 distinct Bourbon recipes mingled by hand.

Types of Tours at Four Roses Distillery
There are two main tours at Four Roses. The Lawrenceburg property and distillery and the Cox’s Creek warehouse and bottling facility.
For one ticket, you get access to both tours, but the facilities are 50 miles apart. While you can do both tours in one day, you have 60 days to use your ticket to visit the second location.
- Distillery Legacy Tour: This tour features the distillery & grounds of Four Roses. During this experience, you’ll explore the distillation process and enjoy a guided flight tasting. This experience is offered at the Distillery in Lawrenceburg, KY. Distillery tours are available year-round but throughout May – mid-July, the distillery has an annual shut-down. During this time, modified tours are available.
- Cox’s Creek: The drive from the distillery to Cox’s Creek is pretty simple and takes less than an hour. You’ll see the bottling facility (operates Monday – Friday) as well as the impressive barrel warehouses where 24,000 bourbon barrels are stored, all in a single story.
- A Taste of History: This is a 30-minute tasting experience that includes a brief history and guided flight tasting of award-winning Bourbons. Best of all, you get to keep the glass!
- Single Barrel Flight: This is a special tasting experience with ten unique recipes, including two unique recipes. This tasting is an immersive experience designed to showcase the distinct flavors of each Bourbon to satisfy every palate. This is an in-depth tasting and does not include the full tour experience. Recipes selected for the flight vary by experience.
Additional Amenities
