Angels Envy
Angels Envy offers two different tours. One is a basic welcome tour, focusing on the fermentation and distillation processes.
The second is a longer signature tour that includes the production process from start to finish.
Each tour includes a tasting. The tours finish in an onsite bar where each guest can purchase one cocktail. The gift shop houses ample Angel’s Envy goods. This is a great opportunity to see a more modern urban distillery in action and to learn about the Angels Envy unique process.
Stitzel Weller
Stitzel Weller has a long history in Kentucky, but was officially re-opened to the public in 2014.
There are four tours regularly offered. The Stitzel-Weller Experience is 1 hour. The Progressive Tour is 1.5 hours, and The Taste of History (tasting-only) is 30 minutes.
Two new tours are the walking and tasting tour, and the chocolate tasting, which includes the best of bourbons and bonbons. Tours range in cost from $25 to $60 and reservations must be made online.
Evan Williams Bourbon Experience
The Evan Williams Bourbon Experience has been welcoming Bourbon tourism for ten years in downtown Louisville on Whiskey Row.
Three unique experiences are offered: The Traditional Tour & Tasting, The Speakeasy Tasting Experience, and The Ideal Bartender Experience.
All three experiences include a tasting and last between 45 minutes to an hour. Cost varies depending on the experience.
If you don’t have a tour reservation, you can still check out ON3, the bar on the 3rd floor with talented mixologists.
Peerless Distilling
This is an urban distillery in a 115-year-old building.
Kentucky Peerless offers a behind-the-scenes tour that is sure to excite. The tour covers the family history, distillery, bottling area, and barrel housing area.
Tasting of four samples is included and you get to keep the glass as a souvenir.
Rabbit Hole Distillery
At just over five years old, Rabbit Hole is a newcomer on the market. However, Kaveh Zamanian hasn’t needed long to create his one-of-a-kind footprint in the booming business of bourbon.
The Rabbit Hole building itself is truly unique and the tours have a nice flow as you follow the process from grain to glass.
Tours are affordable and the gift shop is open to the public Tuesday through Saturday.
Old Forester
Old Forester Distilling CO., (the founding brand of Brown-Forman), is open in its original Whiskey Row home.
The building itself is a mix of old and new. Tours are offered every 15 minutes, and walk-ins are welcome.
Some specialized tours are offered, but only on a very limited basis. The gift shop holds everything from bourbon to baseball caps and even includes a place to enjoy a seasonal cocktail.
Michter’s Fort Nelson Distillery
Michter’s Distillery has three locations. The main distillery is in Shively, but their tours are only offered at the Michter’s Fort Nelson Distillery in Louisville, KY.
Three different tours are offered. The Discovery Tour is the least expensive tour and offers an introduction to Michter’s and a tour of the facilities, followed by a tasting.
The Founders Tour is a little longer, and gives a deeper look into the distilling process, and a tasting of some of the less commonly seen Michter’s whiskeys.
The Legacy Tour is a two-hour in-depth experience of the entire production process and a tasting of some hard-to-find varieties.
Kentucky Artisan Distillery
The Kentucky Artisan Distillery is in a rural setting a little off the beaten path, in Crestwood, KY.
The distillery is in an old building that was originally home to an ice cream distributor. The aging warehouse is nearby as well as a small laboratory and a gift shop.
The Kentucky Artisan Distillery is home to Jefferson’s Bourbon, and some very small-batch bourbons, most only available for purchase at the distillery.
